Gamucci V2 Micro: My First E-Cig!

My New Gamucci V2 Micro!
So here it was at last...my brand new and beautifully boxed Gamucci Micro V2 Starter Kit! I wanted to see it in the flesh before I bought it, so instead of ordering online I found one in a local drugstore. My kindly chemist explained that it was one of the most popular brands on the market and that he hadn't had any complaints from customers so far. I parted with around £50 for this kit, which is about the same as it sells for on the Gamucci online store.

Inside the very attractive shiny black box I found two automatic batteries, one exposed bridge atomiser, a set of five 1,8 mg nicotine cartridges, a USB charger/mains adapter, a small cloth carry case and a user manual.

First impressions...well, it kind of looked like a cigarette, though a little longer and thicker than a regular king size smoke. Heavier too than a "real" ciggy, though this wasn't really a big deal. So after a full battery charge I squeezed a cartridge on and took my first ever puff on my first ever e-cig. The first thing I noticed was that the smoke was realistically warm, especially after a few drags. The throat hit was there alright, but not quite as much as with a tobacco cigarette. The taste was very satisfying, a kind of sweet nutty, musky flavour, which wasn't exactly like tobacco, but a close cousin perhaps.

For a couple of days, puffing away on my pricey Gamucci was fine- I had my new toy and felt happy that the huge cost of it was justified by the few pounds I had saved by avoiding nicotine gum. My jaw muscles had begun to feel lighter too, thanks to the gum amnesty....my nicotine cravings were satisfied and I was kind of smoking, but without any of the tar or other nasty stuff.

Another hour, another cartridge!
By the third day on the Gamucci I ran out of cartridges and had to get a fresh pack of five. And then again two days later. And then again. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed I could only get about 40 good puffs out of every cartridge before I was sucking on fresh air. I searched a few forums and noticed that others were having similar issues with this model. Pretty soon I would need a bank loan just to maintain my cartridge consumption......or maybe I would go back to the gum....my life was going up in vapour-I needed to find a solution, fast!

  2. Review looks great!... E-cigarettes are considerably more effective than over-the-counter treatments such as nicotine gum and patches at helping people to quit smoking, a new study has revealed. The new study, published today by UCL researchers, looked at the success rate of nearly 6,000 quitters. Those who used electronic cigarette mods were 60 per cent more likely to report succeeding than either those who tried to quit with over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapies, or those who quit without help. E-cigarettes were found to be as effective as prescription medicines, but the group of smokers with the highest quitting success rate were those who used free NHS stop smoking services. Quit smoking and live your life.
